Additional Freud FT2000EPK 3-1/4 HP Variable Speed Plunge Router with Case and Free Edge Guide Information
|
Most plunge routers don’t get along with router tables, but the Freud 3-1/4-horsepower variable speed plunge router does, and quite beautifully. After setting the depth, a turn of the big micro-adjustment knob gets the bit precisely where you want it. Out of the table, we loved the slant of the handles because they eliminate the awkward angle most routers require for a sure grip. The big power switch is a great design, too, with an L-shaped lip for fast, sure-handed power control. The wide base offers a nice, stable ride, and open-ended plastic sheathing protects the plunge columns from sawdust and debris. Electronic control offers constant speed under varying loads, and the soft start keeps the tool from even the slightest start-up twist. The super-long collet means great bit stability. The case is sturdy, but we can’t imagine needing it--this tool will be in use all the time in any home or professional workshop.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

What Customers Say About Freud FT2000EPK 3-1/4 HP Variable Speed Plunge Router with Case and Free Edge Guide:

The soft start is also a welcome feature my old hand held did not have. I love this Freud router. I purchased this router as a supplement to my lifter raised Porter Cable 7518 after my 40+ year old Craftsman 1.5 horse gave up the ghost. With the torque it develops, a quick start with a one handed hold would have been outright dangerous. It is very powerful and operates smoothly. The adjustment for depth is incredibly simple to operate and the depth holds throughout many cuts. Fortunately with the placement of the power switch that would not have been an issue either. My main purpose for this router was to do straight bit cuts for dado's on large pieces as well as flush trim cuts for installing tops on aquarium cabinets. It has far out-performed my expectations at a price far below what it would have cost to add another PC7518 to my router collections.
I'm not known for taking multiple passes on panels, usually just hog right through it. This is my second one. The first one lasted about 10 years upside down in a router table. And I've ran a lot of panels. Well worth the money.
